About me

I’m a structural engineer by education and practice, but I left design consulting in 2021 to become a full-time software developer after trying to straddle the software-structural engineering divide for six years. So far, I’ve been very fortunate to work on both coasts of the U.S. (Seattle, NYC, now LA), as well as working abroad in London and Zurich. Wanting to make a change in the day to day work of being a structural engineer, I also spent the fall of 2019 and summer of 2021 at the Recurse Center working on a wide variety of projects for built environment applications and becoming a better and more curious programmer.

Things I am interested in:

  • building tools to complement, rather than replace, engineering expertise
  • data visualization
  • open source engineering software (FEA, design aids, interoperability, etc.)
  • Sustainable design and green building
  • collaborative and local-first software (CRDTs)
  • engineering education
  • computational design
  • equity in Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC)
